Use Hot Shine in the spray form, then get an app pad and apply that way. Also try avoiding spraying in the wind. If conditions are windy, spray the area at close range

Thanks for posting this. Reminded me of a beef I have with Hot Shine Spray that I was going to make a thread over

      Re: Hot Shine Aerosol...

i tried hot shine gel with the applicator for the first time last weekend. in my experience, the applicator is not designed for aggressive tires. and if the jeep in your avatar is yours, then it looks like you have some knarly tires. lol. i have mud terrain tires, and with all the grooves and lines on my sidewall, the gel didn't want to apply so well with the applicator. i had to go over the same spots several times to get it to take and i felt like it took a lot of gel by the time i finished all 4 tires. dont get me wrong though, my tires looks awesome! i'll definitely continue to use the hot shine tire shine. i just dont think i will go with the applicator next time.

Get those yellow and black app pads they sell at Autozone. Can't think of who makes them, but they come 2 in a pack for around 3 bucks

On those beefy tipe tires I usually spray the outer edges with Hot Shine then wipe off what excess I can while I'm spreading it over the rest of the tire. I have never been a fan of the gel. Get the spray version IMO

do you use the yellow and black applicators to wipe off the excess when you use the spray? or do you only use them when using the gel?

I assume your talking to me

I don't use the Gel. I use the spray version. I spray the outer edges of the tires, them spray product onto app pad and wipe. Of course you know you should pull the car up/back a couple feet afterwards to get that area that was on the bottom. I think it also helps to let the car sit for as long as posssible to avoid sling. I have noticed that big truck tires do tend to sling more often then your average tire on a sedan. Hope this helps

i'll def try using the spray on the applicator in the future. its a little difficult to use the gel and applicator with the tires i have, but i will continue to use it until i finish it off. then i'll pick up some spray. do you find that the shine lasts longer when being rubbed in with an applicator instead of just being sprayed on?

Another good thing about the spray is you can hit the fenderwells with it

Using the spray, did you go back and wipe off any excess? I always go back after 20-30 minutes. Never had a problem with over spray.
