While most new rims come clearcoated, is this the same type of cc used on paint or is it a different type made for higher temperatures? For instance, if I were to strip clear coat off of a rim in order to restore the rim, would I be looking for a specialized clear to go back over it with?

As far as I know, factory wheels have a different type of clearcoat (stronger), but most painted aftermarket wheels come with a regular clearcoat.
