  • What else do I need now?

These are the things I purchased a few days back:-

    1) GC car wash
    2) Clay Kit
    3) NXT Tech Wax 2.0
    4) Clear Coat Safe Rubbing Compound
    5) Ultimate Quik Detailer
    6) Chenille MF wash mitt (not Megs)
    7) MF towels(6 pack)

I am still planning to buy the Megs MF wash mitt coz most of the guys said Megs wash mitt is better.
And can I use CC Rubbing compound instead of DC Paint cleaner? What are the other MF products do you suggest?
What else do I need to keep my black car shining ?

The rubbing compound is a good bit stronger... SwirlX, Polishing Compound, or DC1 if you have it would be best as the mild cleaner.

Water Magnets, Supreme Shines, and a couple Ultimate Wipes make up my good cloths. Then the Vroom ones from target make up my cheaper ones.

We can list things forever, always something new we want....

Can supreme shine do the job of water magnets? And which is the best way to remove a coat of wax? And with what?

Not really. You should get water magnets.

You can use supreme shines to remove the wax.

What should I use to completely rip off wax from the paint so I can put a brand new coat of wax?

Try getting the absorber. It dries the car so much faster. I usually use absorber then wipe it down with meg mf.

The SwirlX, DC Cleaner, Polishing Compound would take care of previous wax.

I am a huge fan of Ultimate Quick Wax. I always finish up a car with a wipe down with that stuff. I get a excellent boost and water beeding with using it. Ult Quick Detailer has same/similar properties but I only use that if the vehicle is garaged and out of the elements.

Also I am a big fan of water blades so as long as they are used properly. It gets the majority of standing water off the car and with following up with a MF towel or Water Magnet you have. Just remember to work with the body lines of the car. Also that your not digging into the car and the excess do not need a re swipe. With exception of the glass. Use a MF towel for the follow up.

I wanted to use the rubbing compound on a very fine scratch on my other car. Is it necessary to follow it up with Polishing compound? And which is the best way to remove small fine scratches?

If you are going after a fine scratch, go with Ultimate Compound. Using a rubbing compound by hand for a small scratch is like going squirrel hunting with an elephant rifle. Ultimate compound is a much safer alternative and has diminishing abrasives which means it will actually polish itself out.
This can also remove any previous coats of wax. Of course, so will the clay.

Re: What else do I need now?

Thank you guys for the some brilliant suggestions. So, one thing is for sure that I have to use the rubbing and polishing compound only if there is a bad deep scratch. However, I am still a bit confused about the interior detailer. Should I go with the QID or UP? If anyone has tried both products then kindly suggest...

SERIOUSLY, if you want to save a little time and do a superior job, buy the D/A polisher (Meguiar's G110v2). Got mine a few weeks back and am now wondering why I didn't get one sooner. Without a D/A, polishing out scratches on the entire vehicle is a task conceived in hell. With the D/A, I have redone some previous hand work in half the time with better results. It even makes upkeep like applying wax (I use #26) quicker with better results. The Meguiars web site has a starter kit called "The Power Kit" for $199.99. The cost is cheap if you value your time and are interested in doing a fantastic job. Also, there are several good videos accessable through this forum that will get you started.

Thank you Jim. I will look into it ASAP. However, what bout the Interior detailers? Any feedback?

Being empty nesters, interior cleanup is easy, usually just a damp microfiber towel. For treament I use Megs Ultimate Protectant (love the non greasy feel) on hard surfaces, also very long lasting. For leather, I like the seperate Gold Class Rich Leather Aloe Cleaner & Aloe Conditioners; great combination on leather shoes and furniture too.
