  • Which Meguir's products will be discontinued? You guess

With the release of several new products, it seems clear that some old Meguiar's products will have to eliminated. There's no point in selling redundant products under different names. Retail stores only have so much shelf room. Here are my guesses--and they are only guesses based on no evidence whatsoever--of the products on the bubble:

SwirlX: this polish will be quickly phased out, replaced by Ultimate Polish.

NXT Car Wash: I like this stuff but hardly any retail stores carry it any more. Maybe rebadge it as the Ultimate Car Wash.

NXT Car Wax: We can expect to see NXT on the shelves for a couple of years, but I expect that Ultimate Car Wax is really intended to take its place. There really isn't a need for two synthetic sealants in Meguiar's lineup.

    Any other ideas?

I agree with your findings but I also think one of the protectants may be replaced, perhaps Natural Shine, since there is Ultimate Protectant now.

It's sad but I agree with you about Swirlx. I really like this product.

NXT Wash was my favorite for a bit until I used it a few times lately and it ate through the LSP. Stuff cleans way too well.

Al, I would have to agree with you. From looking at the new products, those you choose sure seem likely to go.

i agree with last point, i also don't see any need for two pure synthetic waxes.

Yea, the only NXT stuff I see now a days is NXT Tech Wax 2.0. Thats bout it.

Sounds like the Ultimate Polish may be milder than SwirlX, so hard to say. Perhaps more of a DC Polish replacement.

Yah, that's what it seemed like to me also. I'm hoping SwirlX stays as it seems the perfect aggressiveness on my soft Honda paint. I'm not sure UP will be enough to take it's place.

Yeah, SwirlX does have its place... What do you guys think about ColorX?

A rename and some SMAT may not hurt, but definatley a place for it.

What's the diff between plain Cleaner Wax and ColorX? ColorX has more oils and is a bit more aggressive?

The X press Liquid Wax in the detailer line will likely get the boot.

                            Al,

I am with you on the NXT wash. Great product, impossible to find OTC. It will probably go away (but I hope it is only relabelled and sold under the "ultimate" name).

Dont know how the oils compare between Cleaner/Wax and ColorX, but the cleaning from ColorX is a bit stronger.
