  • Discoloration under the hood and in door jambs

I acquired a used car and even after a comprehensive detailing, I have what looks like ground-in discoloration in areas of the door jambs and under the hood on painted surfaces (it is a light colored car). A cleaner like 409 with elbow grease does not make it go away.

Any thoughts on getting rid of this? Polishing compound? Which one? ScratchX?

    Thanks.

Can you post some pictures of the problem?

It is possible you are seeing areas with thin paint or a lack of clear coat. Those areas can be skimped on during manufacturing.

Of course, it could be from many other causes as well and only pictures will help us figure it out.
