My recent 1987 Volvo 240 GL full detail

So after researching on this forum how to detail properly. I have finally fully detailed my car.

First, I used Meguiars Gold Class Car Wash on for washing the wheels and paint (with the two bucket method)

Then I used Meguiars Quik Clay Kit with the provided Quik Detailer as a lubricant for the clay.

After that I applied one coat of Meguiars ColorX with an even coat applicator, and then waited for it to haze, then removed it

Then I applied one coat of Meguiars NXT Liquid Tech Wax 2.0, then waited for it to haze, then removed it.

Overall, I did this all by hand and it took 6-8 hours. So if anyone is intimidated that it is difficult using your hands, it isn't. But it definitely takes time. If you enjoy detailing time will fly by though!

Excellent job on that old Volvo. These were/are tough, dependable cars that still have a pretty loyal following inthe States.

6 - 8 hours working by hand and still you say that it isn't difficult. We really admire that passion and dedication!! Great work on a very nice older car!

I've decided in two months, the next time I will apply two coats of the Tech Wax, and I'll let them both settle in a bit longer.

I'll wash the car again in two weeks time, because I have been in the country for a week, I took someone elses car and left it in my garage with a car cover.

Thank you very much Michael! I'm proud to drive a Volvo 240, but it takes it much further when I can say it is 'Meguiars' clean, just that is worth my 8 hours easily! Once I fix a couple of things I may think of entering it into concours or a show. Wouldn't it be great to say my daily driver is also my show car!

It has 206,000 kilometres on the odometer, so that is 128,000 miles. Barely anything on a Volvo 240 of this age. Many 240's are seen doing 300,000 miles or more with good maintenance records, The previous owner of this car loved and cared for it, and I will continue on with that.

Congrats. That is a nice old volvo, nice detailing. I also spend a day or day and half detailing my car. I think thats a good practice 1 day every month or two.

Not many at all actually, the paint looked in great condition when I got it, just needed a clean up and detail.
