  • Sealant Removal

Booth under hood and under trunk my car has patches of a clear hardened material. Not sure what it is, (possible some form of sealant) but would appreciate any ideas on how I could remove them without damaging the paint?

For example in this picture to the right of the vapor vent cap:

I would try some time of solvent.

Something like Prepsol wax and grease remover.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Has this been there since new? Do you have any clue at all what it might be? A bad run in the clear coat maybe? How you remove it will be determined in large part what it is. If it's a bad clear coat run then you can't simply "clean it off", but if it's some foreign material then a wax and grease remove may do an outstanding job. Heck, some WD40 might take care of it too, really hard to say.

What does it feel like - sticky, hard, can you scrape it off with your fingernail?
