With a full presoak and a single grit guard equipped rinse bucket, you can wash a car very quickly this way. Of course, here in SoCal our cars just don't get all that dirty - certainly nothing like compared to driving on salted roads in the Midwest, that's for sure!
I think I'll grab some Super Soap next soon! I'm gonna give this method a try!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

      I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
      Remove swirls my friends.

How do you guys fill the bottle? Are you filling with 2oz of soap and then 8oz of water? I bought some soap from AutoGeek (can't remember the name, but it's for the foam guns) and that's what it said to do. Haven't tried it yet, but it doesn't fill my bottle if I only use 8oz of water.
What do I do? I think my reservoir is 64oz. Do I mix the 2oz of soap with 8oz of water, shake, attach, then foam? Not sure what I'm missing here...

Just add 2 inches of snow foam to the bottle and fill with warm water.

NICE - thanks for the tip. I just got the foam cannon today and I need to try that one out on the pressure washer - can't wait!
              Thanks again.

Re: Used the Foam Gun For the First Time Today

Andrew C. please forgive me if this is a hijack of a thread, but I would like to have clarified a couple of things about Gilmour and dilution ratios while it's a topic of discussion.

I've read enough historical threads today to be thoroughly confused.

I don't have a bottle or container of Soap at the house today to know the recommended dilution ration. I'm picking up 5 gallons Friday.

So let's assume it's 1 to 128 or 1 ounce to 128 ounces. I fill the quart bottle of the Gilmour with straight Soap and slide the proportioner clear to the right, it's going to be 1 to 128.

If I put 16 ounces of Soap and 16 ounces of water in the quart bottle of the Gilmour the effective dilution ratio at the SAME setting of the proportioner is 1 to 256.

If I put about 8 ounces of Soap and about 24 ounces of water in the quart bottle of the Gilmour the effective dilution ratio at the SAME setting of the proportioner is 1 to 384. (This would be the ratio for Hyper-Wash about 1 to 400)

                Yes, no, maybe???

I dont know much about the ratios you just quoted but I use 3oz soap and 6ounces water on the C setting and it does pretty well.
Now i have found that you can strip wax if you spray it on and let it dwell so here's a heads up from me on that one... If I'm doing a nasty car and will polish it out I will go with 6oz soap and 6 oz water on the D setting and let it dwell and then wash it up.
I know it's not as much fun seeing all the foam and what not but be careful as a foamier solution can compromise your wax

                    Using my logic(?)
                    If A=1:128 and B=1:64 and C=1:32 and D=1:20 and E=1:10, when you do 3 and 6 at C then it's 1:96 and 6 and 6 at D is 1:40.

Logic(?) is halving the initial concentration in the bottle doubles the dilution as set by the proportioner. Cutting in third the initial concentration in the bottle triples the dilution set by the proportioner.

In most cases when I foam, I'm claying next or correcting defects so loss of wax is not a concern. I hand wash with Gold Class or Ultimate Wash and Wax to save wax. But you make a very good point.

                    We'll probably hear more tomorrow.

Murr, you are correct. Some where I'm wrong.

                        Here's the last time tonight:
Using the C setting of 1:32,
                        16oz water + 16oz soap = half as strong soap so 1:32 becomes 1:64
(16oz of soap in 32oz total is half)
                        6oz water + 3oz soap = one-third as strong soap so 1:32 becomes 1:96
(3oz of soap in 9oz total is one-third)
                        24oz water + 8oz soap = one-fourth as strong soap so 1:32 becomes 1:128
(8oz of soap in 32oz total is one-fourth)
                        30oz water + 2oz soap = one-sixteenth as strong soap so 1:32 becomes 1:512
(2oz of soap in 32oz total is one-sixteenth)

Murr or anyone else, I hope you will correct this chart as needed...thanks.

Using this chart, if you need a solution of Hyper-Wash of approximately 1:400, you can use the following in a quart sized Gilmour:

1 oz of Hyper-Wash and 31 oz of water and a setting 1:10
2 oz of Hyper-Wash and 30 oz of water and a setting of 1:20
3 oz of Hyper-Wash and 29 oz of water and a setting of 1:32
5 oz of Hyper-Wash and 27 oz of water and a setting of 1:64
10 oz of Hyper-Wash and 22 oz of water and a setting of 1:128

Late last night this all made sense to me....
