  • Is it safe for re-dyed material?

    Hey guys,

Alright my question is fairly simple and fairly complicated all at the same time.
I had my dash in my 1966 mustang re-dyed a silveri-sh tone to match my interior. I asked the dye guy if Meguiars interior stuff would be safe to use on it. His response was...." urrrrrrrr I dont know. I just use a wet rag."

So, my question is: Is it safe to use it on a redyed dash or am I going to end up with a silver dyed rag?

Anything in particular I should stay away from?

(and by it, I mean most products, I'm not 100% sure what I have on the shelf, I think its ultimate quik detailer)

Like you said - this question is simple and complicated at the same time.

The durability of the re-dye is really a function of the type of dye used and how well it was applied by the upholstery shop.

I have used SEM's Color Coat products on vinyl door panels (color change from blue to black) with great success when I followed SEM's instructions on proper surface prep.
    - In my case, I regularly use Quik Interior Detailer on the SEM re-dyed panels and have not had any problems.
    - I think I also let the dye cure for 2-3 weeks before I "cleaned" the panel

Well, the guy did my door panels a few years ago, and I scrub the hell out of them most of the time and there ok. I'm almost certain it'll be fine, good thing is I have some testing sots if I needed them. Just wanted the forums opinion on it.

The guys been doing this for 20+ years and does a lot of classics so he knows what hes doing I hope.
