Okay, let's go to Plan B.

Here's what Meguiar's recommends for heavy repairs of the headlights:

See why Meguiar’s has been a trusted car care company for more than 120 years by shopping an authorized selection of products to treat any motorized vehicle.

Once I sanded Mustang's headlight with DA (as a sander) starting with 3" Unigrit 1,000 finishing disk and followed with 3" Unigrit 3,000 finishing disk.
Then I used my rotary with M105/ 3" wool pad followed by M205/ 4" yellow polishing pad.

            That should work.

Sand in one direction with 1,500 (like left to right) and then refine it with 2,000 going the other way (up and down).

Compound and polish will remove sanding marks and restore gloss. You can seal your headlights with a sealant for protection.

Start with this, then use M105 on a cutting pad and follow with M205 on a polishing pad and you should be all set.

Our Pro Headlight Restoration Kit, which is really designed to be used with the mini air tools, offers sanding discs as aggressive as 320 grit and up to 3000 grit. The polishing is then done with the 4" wool pad and M105, followed by M205 on a yellow polishing pad.
