  • Did I buy the wrong pads?

    Newbie.....

First time getting ready to use the PC7424xp......new car - plan on doing some light scratch removal, followed by ultimate polish, finished with ultimate wax.

I accidentally bought the yellow W8000 and beige W9000. After getting them in the mail, noticed they were 8in pads. Couple of questions:

    1) are 8in pads too big to use with the 7424?
    2) the backing plate I bought was for the 6.5" pads....is that ok to use?
    3) most of the forums keep referring to black as the "finishing" pads. Is the beige 9000 basically the same?
    4) can i use 8000 pad with ultimate polish? or should I only be using the 9000 pad with that polish?

Thanks for the help. Anxious to start, but dont want to hose myself out of the gate.

The 8" pads are for use with a Rotary buffer. Won't do you much good. You want either the Soft Buff 2.0 pads or other 5.5-6.5 inch pads.

Even the original Soft Buff pads would be useable.

Lake County pads are also popular.

With the smaller backing plate you would want to go with either the W-8006 Yellow Soft Buff Foam Polishing Pad and the W-9006 Tan Soft Buff Foam Finishing Pad, or the newer versions which are the W-8207 Yellow Soft Buff Foam Polishing Pad 2.0 and the W-9207 Black Soft Buff Foam Finishing Pad 2.0.
