Hello, everybody!
I am new here. Just bought a new black Toyota Camry SE. It is my first black car. Washed with the two buckets. Did the clay bar all over the car. First time doing that! What a nice difference that made!
By hand, I put one coat on the sides and two coats on top side. I only put one coat on the side since I had been out there for 6 hours and was running out of steam on Sunday. Figured that I could apply another coat next weekend. It was 90 degrees and high humidity and I ain't as young as I used to be. Applied the wax in the garage which is not well lit. Applied the wax to the whole car first and then polished it off. Thought that I had everything really shinny until I got to work today (Monday) and saw it in the sunshine. It looked sort of blotchy as if I didn't get all of the wax off. Not grey but a shades of black and dark grey. I quickly threw on the new car cover (Noah) and went inside and prayed nobody saw me. Got home and polished another 2 hours on the top and the blotching started going away. Put a second coat on the sides and polished away but still not sure that I have it right. The sides still don't look right. I just way not be used to a really shinny car.
Do you think it more the fault of the newbie polishing (technique) or could it be that the paint just took the wax at a bit differently in places?
Would a buffer like they sell on this site give me a better and more uniform result?
BTW, Thank you for the great videos and the advice. You have opened my eyes to what is possible.
