  • Swirls and Holograms on black car

It's passed a year since I bought a brand new black VW Jetta (2010) from the dealership and for my surprise it came with holograms and swirl marks over the HOLE car. I was afraid to take it back, thinking the marks could get worse...
Well, called a guy that had experience with car polishing. After the job, the car seemed a lot better, but after a few days, there they were... Holograms and swirls marks appeared again !!
Wen't to USA in the beginning of the year and bought:
    - microfiber towel
    - foam pad
    - Swirl X
    - Scratch X 2.0

The thing is I wanted to ask here, to the specialists, before trying to use these products. What's the best thing I should first ? Are these products correct ? Should I use any other, like ultimate compound ?
I know there isn't a ''cake recipe'', but if you could pass me a step by step, I can call the guy I know, buy the needed tools, and try to see if it works.

    Thanks to you all

Wow... that paint is scoured pretty badly.

As for where to start, since you have SwirlX and ScratchX 2.0 we would recommend starting with the SwirlX, a foam pad an some passion and work a small 16x16-inch area or so. Give that a pass, remove the excess and inspect the paint.

If it appears you are making progress, either try a second pass, or move on to another section and keep repeating. If it seems it isn't strong enough, then try the same approach with the stronger ScratchX 2.0.

If that doesn't do the trick, then you will need to look into Ultimate Compound.

Pretty much what Mark said, but you will obviously want to wash and dry first and then consider claying if the paint needs it. It should feel smooth as glass after the wash.

It does look bad, looks like someone with a lack of experience took to it with a rotary buffer, but its definetely fix-able..

Doing it by hand is going to not be fun and unless you want a summer project. I would have you consider getting a D/A and a good compound/polish and level it out. That would be a tremendous time saver.

I have done stuff by hand but how much "Passion" you can put behind de-swirling it and keeping it consistant will be very tough and time consuming.

Try one panel a night, and then once satisfied, fully wax and seal and move on.

I use this as an example a great deal but this shows what Ultimate Compound, a Terry Cloth towel, time, and passion can get you. But I def was getting a little tired and I worried about consistancy.
