Dear PROS....
i recently bought a honda 2nd hand car. After purchasing it, during first wash, realize there are many chips and a scratch. So here are some question i need to query to fix my paint chips and scratch.
For the Scratch-
i believe i can find out through the amazing megs online how to fix a scratch and chips. But can i add another method to do this? Is this extra method good?
so here goes....
1. clean and prep area to work
2. Do i need to prime the scratch/ chips? Use alcohol to clean work area.
3. use touch up paint to fill up the scratch / chips. Do for 3 layers.
4. Use (i know i shouldnt talk about other brands here, but im sorry if i have to) Simoniz Fix it Pro to add a layer of CLEAR COAT....(this product has been reviewed as a failure, but i think it might actually work if done this way-But what u guys think?)
5. Now, after the clear coat added, there will be an uneven layer...Clean and prep work area, as scratch/chips being filled with Simoniz Fix it pro and left for 1 day to dry, may have cause it to be contaminated.
6. Prep 2000 grit, 2500 grit and 3000/3500 grit wet sand paper.
7. Wet sand the uneven area down to level.
8. clean area, and then using Megs Ultimate Compound to remove scratch for wet sanding.
9. Polish area with Megs NXT Tech Wax
10. Lastly, use megs M21 2.0 sealant to seal the area...
This, using the simoniz fix it pro, is the extra step i realize may work to minimize taking the clear coat layer away. What do you guys think? Will it work?
