  • New...Getting ready for full detail. Need Feedback

I have a 2004 Black QX56 that's only been hand waxed maybe 3 times in 7 years....It needs alot of TLC. I purchased some products and want to go over my plan of attach and would like some feedback and pointers.

    -Good Wash
-Clay bar (probably gonna need alot) Should I do the vertical surfaces also?
(Can I rub love bug damage and tree sap hard?)
-Ultimate Compound using the Meguairs DA Polisher. (nervous about that)
    -Ultimate Polish
    -NXT Tech Wax
    -NXT Tech Wax ...again?

Wheels are OEM Chrome Alloy....Do I use a chrome or aluminum Polish?
    Tire cleaner/spray recommended?
Ultimate Protectant on outside plastic trim (matte)

Thanks for any replies or help!

    OK.

    -Good Wash
Good car soap, 2 buckets, quality towels, sponges ,etc.

-Clay bar (probably gonna need alot) Should I do the vertical surfaces also?
(Can I rub love bug damage and tree sap hard?)
    Yes, clay everything. Glass also.

Yes, you can rub harder if needed. Depending on how bad the sap is, can use some glass cleaner first.

Also, can use a wet dryer sheet before washing to work on the bugs.

-Ultimate Compound using the Meguairs DA Polisher. (nervous about that)
No need to be nervous. Just remember polishing pad, not cutting. Dont start in the middle of your hood. Learn on a rear fender...

    -Ultimate Polish
OK. You may want to do a test spot with this first. Not the strongest product, but never know. May be all you need.

    -NXT Tech Wax
    -NXT Tech Wax ...again?
Yes, 2 thin coats are best.

Wheels are OEM Chrome Alloy....Do I use a chrome or aluminum Polish?
Are they coated with anything, or bare metal?

    Tire cleaner/spray recommended?
I like APC for my tire cleaner. That would be done with the wheels when washing.

The tire shine would be more up to you. I like the Nxt Insane Shine trigger spray, but thats just me.

Ultimate Protectant on outside plastic trim (matte)
    Yeah.
