Microfiber or Soft Buff for noob?

I am probably going to get a G110v2 for Christmas!! The issue I've been having is choosing a product line and pads. I will probably just be working with my family's cars and many of them are Honda. From what info I have seen on the microfiber system, it seems it may not be too good for Honda soft clear. Should I get the microfiber system (http://www.autodetailingsolutions.ne...ction-kit.html) or should I get some soft buff 2.0/ lake country ccs pads?

If I get the system in the website above, I get everything I need. But that could be too harsh for my honda paint?
If I get the soft buff 2.0 pads, I will have to buy more product. I only have a little bit of UC. (I think it left/created some of its own swirls on my Honda. Is it too harsh also?)

Keep in mind I will only be using whatever system I get a few times a year on family cars. I don't know which one would be more practicle. If I get good with the system, I may eventually start doing some of my neighbors cars.

DA Microfiber Correction System was designed as a high volume paint correction system with simple two step approach. Its first step D300 Correction Compound/ MF cutting disc offers moderate defect removal ability with D/A polishers. For small to medium defects or on paints more on softer side step two alone D301 Finishing Wax/ MF finishing disc can be performed.

I think that System may not be needed in your situation as you won't use its full designed ability. I would rather start with set of foam buffing pads and some liquids. G110v2 polisher comes with W68DA backing plate which fits Soft Buff 2.0 7"-diameter Meguiar's pads. Some internet stores offer G110v2/ buffing pads combos at lower prices than when purchased separately.

As for product choice I really like the Ultimate Line: Ultimate Compound/ Polish/ Wax/ Protectant. It may happen that on softer paints Ultimate Compound leaves surface hazed or micro-marred. It's an indication of too aggressive approach.

To be completely candid, we'd recommend staying with foam pads in your case. The DA Microfiber System may well be too aggressive for what you want to accomplish, plus if you aren't taking care to clean those discs after every pass you can start to create some other issues. For a new user, foam is just a whole lot easier to master, it's much more forgiving, and it still provides plenty of cut using products like Ultimate Compound, etc. If you're shopping ADS for materials, why not look at this kit instead. Even if you add two more W8207 polishing pads and an extra W9207 finishing pad, and a bottle of Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish and NXT Tech Wax 2.0 you'll still be roughly the same price overall as the kit you mentioned. But you'll have the option of further refining the finish using Ultimate Polish before waxing, and you'll get to experiment a bit with product combinations on different cars. Plus, when you run out of product you have the convenience of picking it up locally or ordering online along with other material as you develop your skill set.

And if you think UC on a yellow polishing pad doesn't provide enough grunt to get the job done, just look through the various threads with pictures from our Saturday Classes.

Thank you for the input. I think I am going to get the kit with the G110V2 and the 6 pads (2 each). I already have NXT2.0 and enough UC for (maybe) one car. I will end up getting more UC and get the UP also. I will be sure to take and post pictures after Christmas after I detail my car. In the meantime I'll just wash and wax by hand. I just really want to get rid of the swirls!!!

Since my 3 vehicles are in close to mint cond.....i figure this kit will serve me well
But I have to say i pretty tempted on the MF pads.....

The maroon pad included in the kit is the least used pad for most folks. You may want to trade the second maroon pad out for a third one of one of the others. If your cars need moderate levels of correction, get the yellow, if they are in really good shape , get the black. My maroon pad has been used almost exclusively as the backer for microfiber bonnets to take off the LSP.

We're in agreement with most of this (not huge fans of the microfiber bonnet over the pad as LSP removal) - you will get the most use out of, and use most aggressively, the W8207 polishing pads. Honestly, we'd trade out the two W7207 cutting pads for two of the W8207 polishing pads. You'll be glad you did pretty quickly.

the Meguiar's G110V2 Six Pack Special avail at ADS....you have the option of picking which pads you want.
I was debating on getting 3 yellow, 2 black and 1 of the burgundy....but since my 3 vehicles are in near mint cond.....I'm now thinking of 4 yellow & 2 black? If for some reason I need the burgundy pad....I can order separately...

I want to make it simple for my fleet of vehicles so if I stick with the Ultimate line (UW, UC,) and SwirlX I should be ok? I have 2 white cars....so which wax would all you season'd pros recommend if you were to choose NXT or UW in liquid? I have only used GC paste and recently picked up a tub of Collinite 476 paste wax (never used yet)
