  • Which portercable kit?

I've decided to purchase a portercable DA buffer from autogeeks. Can someone tell me what kit or pads I should purchase? Initially I will be using it with products such as ultimate compound, colorX, cleaner wax and ultimate wax.

    Should I purchase bonnets too?

If you're going with our pads we'd recommend getting our W68DA backing plate, at least 3 of the W8207 polishing pads and 2 W9207 finishing pads. If your budget allows, an extra of each pad isn't a bad idea. That will give you a couple of polishing pads for test spots and for completing a full correction on any vehicle (you'll want to swap to a fresh pad at least once during the process) plus a finishing pad for polish and one for wax. Since they're all machine washable you don't have to worry about using a pad with a different product next time around.

Skip the bonnets. Once you apply the wax via DA it will be on so thin and uniform that removing it by hand is a piece of cake. Bonnets won't get everything anyway so you'll have to go back by hand to remove wax from the tighter areas. And you can be overly aggressive removing wax with a bonnet over a pad - all you want to do it wipe off the excess, not buff it like crazy to somehow enhance the shine.

Thanks, Michael. I was about to change my mind and buy the G110v2, but it looks to be on back order everywhere I look.

I like the bonnets put over a cutting pad, but yeah, light touch.

All of the machines will do a good basic job. I dont think the new MF pads would be a problem either with the PC, and should up the cleaning ability also if needed in the future.
