  • Does ColorX need to be taken off before applying M16?

As the title says, does ColorX need to be removed before I apply M16? I would apply ColorX, let it dry, and then apply M16 let it dry and then buff it all off together. It is all by hand, so it seems I could save a step, not to mention my elbow.
    Thanks.

I would have thought Murr would have been all over this question, as he often recommends ColorX. Based on his recommendation I started using it.

In my limited experience, buff off the ColorX first. Leaving it on and then applying M16 would reduce the effectiveness of the M16. Or so it would seem to me. Although perhaps it's a tried and true "old hands" technique.

I would remove the colorX first before applying a coat of M16.

Ehh.. too early in the morning...

Yeah, you want to buff off the firsrt coat of wax (ColorX, or other wax) before applying the second coat.

Murr what specifically about ColorX do you like so much? I hear a lot about it but I haven't used it yet.

            Well, lots of good things...

            - It is a cleaner/wax, so an all in one product that saves some time when in a hurry. A coat of wax after covers all your steps.
            - Or great 1 step for a less devoted detailer.
            - Leaves good looks behind, and reasonable durability.
            - Easy on/off.
            - Bit stronger than the A12 Cleaner/Wax, which is good for daily drivers by hand.

Have you ever tried M06? I have some of that and think it's pretty good stuff. I have been doing some quick details on friends' cars who stop by and it's been working pretty well.

Thanks everyone. I will buff the ColorX off first. As Murr says, it comes off so easy anyway.
ColorX is fantastic for all the reasons Muss states, plus makes a great base for M16.

Its because of Murr I have a bottle on the shelf, I use it all the time on my wifes DD. It is a great cleaner wax seems to hold up well also.
