  • How clean up tight areas

So I have been using m105 and m205 on my project black Mustang. The paint is indeed bad, water spots, clear coat failure, swirls the whole nine yards. I know it needs a repaint but what better color to "practice on" and I just wanted to make the car go from a 50 footer to a 15 footer for now and i think I accomplished that. My question is: How do you get the upper areas of the door panels, where the door panel (or trunk panel or whatever panel) meets the windows (or glass) looking as good as the larger panel. Do you do this area by hand or do you use a smaller pad? Any tricks from the experts?

    Thanks for your help!

If you're using a D/A then you can change your current BP to a Meguiar's S3BP 3" backing plate along with some 4" Softbuff 2.0 pads (W8204 for the polishing pad and W9204 for the finishing pad). These products should help you finish those smaller areas like the rest of the car. Underneath the door handles, you can use a normal foam pad applicator and rub a cleaner-polish such as M105 or UC vigorously. This should eliminate the scratches found underneath the door handles.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Fellas! I have the 3 in. backing plate and used the smaller pads. I guess i wasn't patient enough using it. I also used some hand and arm power! Again I guess I need to keep at it a little longer with these two methods to get the results I am looking for. Again thanks for your responses.
