  • Anyone use any buffer or dremel for polishing bumpers/wheels

Using a chrome or Mag & Aluminum polish for a big job like a bumper, has anyone ever used any type tool rather than hand polishing? I have a Meg's DA and the balls and cones that attach to a drill, but I didn't know if anyone found the best way.
    Thanks

Something like the attachment for the headlight kit could be interesting, or a MF pad. But might be a bit of a 'one time use', so an expensive way to do it.

I probably wouldnt do it for a bumper.... but for something a bit less obvious, like a muffler, #0000 steel wool and some metal polish makes quick work of stuff.

If you don't own a Dremel borrow one before buying one. The RPM is so high I would think it would vaporize any compound you might use. Finding a suitable attachment might be difficult too. Combining the high speed and small attachment might mar the chrome. Just thinking out loud.

Hi, I have used a dremel with NXT all metal polysh but only on dull parts like carburettors to give them a bit of a shine.

        Before:

I would be very careful on chrome as you can generate a lot of heat with a dremel.

If you've got a large chrome bumper that needs polishing, a 4" pad (with appropriate backing plate) will work great with a metal polish on this larger surface. We agree that the very high speeds of a dremel makes that a less than suitable tool for this work, especially considering the size of the area you're working on. For the smaller parts that woblynne has shown a dremel is great - for you task, much less so.
