Perfect. In that case, I will just use my GC wax on top of the ULW.

Here is my final process. You guys are great!

    Full Detail:
    1) Wash with Gold Class Wash + sheet water off
    2) Clay with Quick Detailer
    3) Ultimate Compound with foam applicator
    4) Ultimate Polish with foam applicator
    5) 2 Coats Ultimate Liquid Wax with foam applicator

    6) 1 Coat Gold Class Liquid Wax (after letting ULW cure for 12 hours)

    In-between washes:
Quik Detailer or Gold Class Quik Detailer or Ultimate Quik Detailer

    Wash:
    1) Wash with Gold Glass Wash + sheet water off
    2) Dry with honeycomb microfiber
    3) Ultimate Quik Wax

You really have set up a perfect method. I like what you have put together for yourself. You should invest in a G110v2 and some pads as doing things by arm will wear you out and not to mention your results will be far better with machine. Good luck.

That is definitely sitting in the back of my mind. Doing a basic wash/clay/wax left my arm feeling like it was going to fall off...
I'm just really worried about making the paint worse than it is now...

Considering I do go for the DA, I should use the polishing pad for UC and UP, correct? Should I still apply the wax by hand?

What about intricate areas such as my front bumper? Do I still do those by hand? Do I need to mask off trim/plastics?

(Sorry for all the questions )

Polishing pad for the cleaning products, finishing pad for the wax, or just by hand.

The tight spaces will still need done by hand. You'll want to mask them off if you want to get real close to them, or dont think you can avoid them.

As mentioned before, just do a panel first, and check your work, before doing the whole car. That way you'll catch any issues first.

Ok, it looks like I'm getting the G110v2!

I'm going to do the UC and UP using the 7in polishing pad.
I'm going to do the ULW and GCLW by hand with a foam applicator.

            Sounds good?

What should I set the DA to for the compound and polish?

Settings 1-3 are for polishing/waxing. Settings 4-6 are for cutting.

UC on a polishing pad speed 5. UP on a finishing pad speed 4. ULW on a finishing pad speed 3. See the method?

Ok. Isn't it a bit counterintuitive to use a finishing pad for the UP (instad of a polishing pad)?
Is there any benefit from applying the ULW with the DA vs applying it by hand? I would rather the ULW by hand...

Re: New to detailing - critique my method!

With something like Ult. Polish that is a mild cleaner/polish, you can really use either pad.

Polishing for more cleaning ability (and any haze from UC), Finishing for more for more of just the oils and finer finish.

As for the wax, you can do whatever you enjoy, no right or wrong. The machine may help with your thin even coat though.

So I be ok using both UC and UP with a polishing pad and the moving directly to the ULW? (separate pads obviously...)

Sure. Will just increase the UP cleaning ability a little. Can try the other way some time in the future, and see what you think.
