  • Should I bother...

I have dedicated winter and summer wheels. At every change, I would wash and wax the wheels before storage in tire totes.

For the winter wheels, the storage time is approx 8 months. Does wax last this long? Should I even bother to wax? BTW, I just waxed my winter wheels with #16 (used to be the longest lasting wax in Meguiars line).

Heck it wouldn't hurt in my opinion. And if theyre closed in a bag or whatever, the wax would last even longer.

I waxed my old wheels months ago and set them in the corner of the garage and when I just checked them they were as slick as the day I put them away.. I dont see how wax wont last a year if they are just set up in a corner without seeing sunlight or contaminats.

why not wash before you store and wax before you install?

We would expect to see this, especially with a good synthetic like NXT 2.0 or Ultimate Wax. Just sitting in the garage, especially wrapped in a tire tote, a synthetic wax will last a very long time and it's a good idea to apply one of these prior to storage for the off season.
