  • "FIRSTS" all over the Board!

Hi everyone. I just started using Meguiars products, and Using this forum, about 2 weeks ago.
These have all been firsts for me. Using:

    Ultimate Car wash
Clay Bar Kit w/ lubricating detailer
    Ultimate Compund
    Ultimate Polish
    Ultimate Liquid Wax
    Ultimate Quick Wax
    Ultimate Protectant
Meguiars Heavy Duty Headlight restoration kit.

I have detailed 4 cars since then. My 1996 Forest Green Honda Civic. My Grandfathers 2007 Black Volvo station wagon with leather interior, and a woman's Brand New Dark Red Cadillac Cts Hardtop convertable.

Product after product, my family and myself have been blown away by the results.

I had a great opportunity for a science project on my 96 civic. Since the paint is 16 years old and definitely neglected. It was dull with lots of scrathes, fine scratches, the whole gusto. I really seemed like the dishes were done on it. So after washing and claying i began a BY HAND(not enough money for machine now) To use the compound. Probably not recommended but I used the compound twice to really make sure it was cleaned well. By this time the paing surface finally felt very clean and smooth to the touch, which it never felt like. I guess a perfect "LANDING PAD" for some polish.

This is where it really got me. Ok, it was obvious that my car was a green car, but a very dull green at that. But after I used the Ultimate polish I could finally see the little Green Sparkles. My car was finally shiny, and sparkly. I did not think that was possible at all with this car. And i could, like a mirror, see all the images of myself and clouds and trees in the backround.

From this point, Used the Ultimate liquid wax, and actually put it on twice incase I missed any spots as some have recommended.
I don't know how many words I can use to describe this.

My paint no longer looks like this hard piece of green sheet metal slapped onto the car. It now has this really SOFT, WARM, WET, Liquid look to it. And it feels soft to the touch. And then I spryed my car down to check the beading. Which was RIDICULOUS! My cousin described it like this: "Dude, the water looks like it is actually scared to touch that paint man! Yeah I mean it was cool that it beaded, but then those beads just ran off the car.

I've also used The Heavy Duty Headlight restoration kit, which turned My very, very yellow and hazy headlights, into crystal clear ones. I gave up on them, but said it would cost alot to replace them any way so I might as well try the Kit. Very good stuff. Thankyou all for guiding me in the Meguiars direction, I am thoroughly grateful. Have a great day!

    Thanks for sharing your experience.

What you've described is precisely the reason why this detailing thing is so addictive!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

          Davey g-force,

Uh yeah! You say addictive. Ask walmart and autozone in Aurora, il. How addicted I am.

          And Motorsports-X,

Because I don't own a digital camera I've been Taking pics with a disposable camera. Is there any way to get those on my computer and post those. I will be able to borrow my brothers digital this week to get good after photos.

Cool that you got great results on your first couple of cars.

Detailing is a great hobby and it is rewarding to have a very clean car inside and out.

We have to say, we absolutely love hearing success stories like this! Sure, detailing can be hard work, but the rewards are more than worth the effort for a real car guy. Summerstorm, we hope you continue with this new addiction (a healthy one, at that!) and continue to learn and develop your technique and skill. Keep it up!!!

Thankyou very much for your encouraging words guys. It means alot. It's so great how u can just lose yourself in something you enjoy so much and are challenged by with each car you do. For me it's a time to just cool off for a few hours and to be focused on something positive for that time.

                  Yup...you're hooked.

You will start looking at other vehicles and thinking, "Geeze, I could do wonders on that car."

Yes, the neighbors will be shacking their heads, but that is only jealousy.

There is no 12 step program for the addiction, so just enjoy the euphoria.

Yeah, the other day I was really admiring the wax on my car and just making some touch ups.

I don't have a garage so my car is parked outside all night.

When I woke up, and got ready to get grocieries, I looked at my hood and someone decided to really scratch up my hood. Not Cool Man!

Luckily my car is older so it doesn't bother me so much. I Ultimate compounded it and was able to get some of them out.

Yeah, nothin' I can do. The situation kinda had a cool twist though. At least I had to learn how to problem solve, and figure a way that I could lessen the damage. After doing a couple rounds of Ultimate compound I was able to get alot. but not all, out. It's good my car is older so I can practice these techniques on it.

It'll just encourage me to earn more money so I can move to a better area with garage. Thanks for Concern and have a great day guys.

                            Doh! That stinks man!

Well, I for one hope karma finds the person that did that to your car.
