  • Dry pad marring paint?

Hey guys, just had a quick question before I go and waste some more time.. I am using a DeWalt DW849 and I am buffing my 2005 Orange Blast Pearl SRT-4. I had just washed my pads and am noticing after buffing that I am seeing this marring ONLY on the hood which is where I started. I forgot to spray the pad with QD so the pad was totally dry before picking up the polish. I can see it in the sunlight only. Is this normal? I've never had this problem on my car when starting with dry pads before because the polish is picked up so quickly.. I don't see it anywhere else on the vehicle. It's just strange to me that the whole hood is like that.. I am only polishing at 1,000rpm, as the car is near mint condition and doesn't require any heavy compounds or pads.

I don't think dry pad will mar paint. Did you clay/clean surface before polishing? How was your pad? Did you keep the pad clean?

Yes, the car was clayed. Yes, the pad was clean.
