  • HELP! Scratched the car and my husband will flip!

    Help help help help!

My husband's black BMW is his pride and joy. I'm genuinely surprised he doesn't kiss it goodnight. Well, earlier I was driving it and hit a yellow bollard (turning in a parking lot, so going less than 5mph) and now his black BMW has a lovely yellow tiger-stripe pattern on the front right side.

HELP! How do I get these scratches out, or at least get the yellow paint from the bollard out? I don't have any scratch x and I don't have any way of getting any before I return the car to him in, oh, about two hours. All I have at my disposal is a headlight restoration kit with a buffer, and I have vinegar and an all-natural all-purpose cleaner. That's it.

At the very least, how can I do some temporary fix so he won't notice? I have literally - no, literally - no money, so I can't buy anything or even take the car to a car wash. All I can do is use something I already have.

    Help me!

I would confess and let him do deal with it. With all purpose cleaner, vinegar and the headlight restoration kit, I wouldn't touch it. None of those products will help a lot. The headlight restoration kit might but, once again, I wouldn't touch it.

Well, it's been more than two hours since you posted so we assume your husband has seen the issue by now. Hopefully you just left it alone and didn't risk making things worse by using the wrong product/process to correct it. It really sounds like all you had was a bit of paint transfer and that's usually very easy to remove with ScratchX 2.0 or similar. Without having seen the actual damage it's impossible to say with 100% certainty, but from your description we're confident that the matter can be corrected easily, without leaving any trace that it ever happened.

My wife said "What is more important? Me or the car?" I don't mean to suggest you to say that. I've just quote her.

And being a black car, any attempts to fix it could be a sure fire recipe for disaster...
