  • Will Glass Cleaner freeze?

Just had a thought of using some of my glass cleaner (the Detailer Line concentrate diluted at regular 10:1) to fill my windshield washer fluid since its so economical and my gallon lasts forever. However, I was curious if there's enough alcohol in it a 10:1 to keep it from freezing over the winter months and causing the reservoir to crack. It will rarely get below 20 here, but just thought I'd check and see if anyone else has ever used this, and if so, what the results were like. Thanks in advance.

I can't address D-120 exactly, but I did have some washer fluids that had alcohol in it and it would 'slush' on some of the colder days. Even though the car(s) were garaged at night, just siting out while at work seemed just cold enough to chill it down.

Oh, yes I am referring to Seattle winters (actually Snohomish County).

Make a bottle up and stick it in your freezer check after an hr

I have received slushy bottles when shipped in the winter.... so may not be a great idea.

Not a good idea as it will freeze. Better to stick with a washer fluid designed for this purpose.

Cool, thanks for the advice guys. I guess I've probably found enough uses for it anyway, but i thought why not try one more. Your advice will save me from having a dirty window in December driving over the passes and stuck with no windshield cleaner cause its all frozen!

I found that D120 10:1 dilution is still very effective. I guess you can sell to a lot of friends.
