  • M205 on fresh paint?

I just got my car back this morning. The whole front end was painted and the doors were blended.

The painter told me to wait at least 30 days before applying any kind of wax/sealant.

But, there are some light swirls that I would like to take car of. Is M205 safe on fresh paint? DA or by hand only? Do I need to apply anything else until 30 days? Car will be driven maybe once a week until then.

M205 is fine to use to correct the swirls. Just avoid any specific wax or sealant until the painter's specified period is complete.

Any of our compounds, cleaners and polishes in our Mirror Glaze Professional Line are safe to use on the paint at this point, as are Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish. You just want to avoid waxes and sealants, regardless of which line they come from, as that paint needs to outgas for a while in order to fully cure. But removing swirls with any of the above, whether by hand or with a buffer, is perfectly safe. In fact, odds are the body shop has already used a buffer and compound on this paint. At this point, whether or not the product is body shop safe (Mirror Glaze line) or not (consumer line) is not the point because you're no longer engaged in the process of spraying paint - you're looking to correct minor defects on applied paint.

        Thanks guys!!

Does 205 provide any kind of "protection" from the elements?

I don't think it would protect you much, if at all.

I'll just leave the car hiding out in the garage until the 30 days then.

            Thanks

#80 has some protective ability, but still isnt like a wax.

If you need a period of time for the new paint to cure b4 adding Sealent or wax, can we use a spray on wax??

No, would still count as a wax sealing the surface.

                      Re: M205 on fresh paint?

you can do some work to it now or wait.
                      I'd just wait.
You don't want to do any damage to the paint and pay for another paint job.
