  • How to remove gasoline glaze from car paint

When I purchased the car in 2010 I found the entire exterior was freshly painted in 2007. I am guessing somewhere within those couple years is when the gasoline started to spill onto the car. I am unsure as to how often it was leaked on and have tried the water and waxing to remove the stain. The rest of the entire car is flawless and shines very nicely when cleaned and with no paint flaws. It seems to me I may have to sand this lightly or maybe someone could help me through the process of removal. I have searched and many people recommended I ask in here before attempting anything.

    Thank you for your time.

Well, not sure what that ridge is? Hopefully not clear coat peeling up... and looks like some rust. If you work it too much, you might peel up more paint...

But either way, looks like you will need some Ult. Compound as a starting point if you wanted to go at it...

If you haven't already, I would try some sort of solvent cleaner like TarX. Let it dwell a few minutes, then give it a scrub. That might remove it if its above the clear coat.

I suspect you are going to need the area repainted. I don't think any amount of rubbing is going to correct that peeling problem.

wash the area real good. clay bar it. thne take some 1200-1500 grit wet sandpaper lighly on it. if ya get blue on the paper, the clear is gone and will have to be repainted.
this can happen on new paint that hasnt cured. even the vapors can leach under the clear and lift it.

That paint is damaged through the Clear Coat.
            Gas is a solvent.
It has eaten through your paint.
You can sand, buff or rub 'till your hands a sore but you'll have to remove alot of paint to fix that.
Sand and repaint. then don't spill anymore gas on it.
