A little swirl problem!!

Here is a 2003 Ford Mustang Convertible I currently have in my possession. This car has LOADS of swirl marks. Just look at the hood pic.

So what did you do to it?
I'm assuming rocks and spit? lol, jk.

Well duh, haven't you ever seen this product? I use it all the time!! Rocks in a bottle work great. I've got plenty of spit, so all went well as you can see!!
















Man, everyone wants details details details, pardon the pun pun pun, lol

Ok so I love everything Meguiar's offers first off. Every product has it's place.

Steps:

Meguiar's Wash & Wax Anywhere
Clay bar
G110V2 DA polisher
#8207 Soft Buff Yellow Pad

3 products used to polish swirls out
Attempt 1: Ultimate Polish with yellow pad on speed 4 (Wasn't enough cutting power for these swirls, still a fabulous product)
Attempt 2: SwirlX with yellow pad on speed 4-4.5 (Made a better dent in the process, but still not enough cutting power for these swirls, still a fabulous product)
Final Attempt 3: Ultimate Compound with yellow pad on speed 4.5- 5 (This was the product needed for the nasty little things)

I completed the front fenders, hood and front bumper with this process. Still have both doors and entire rear of car to do.

Topped off hood, fender, and front end with NXT 2.0

I'm wondering if I should've put Ultimate Polish on after UC then the NXT 2.0. Thoughts there?

All in all I'm very happy with my first time doing this type of correction. This car is basically my guinea pig, lol I'm borrowing it while mine is getting fixed, so I told them I'd do a full inside/outside detail. It's nice since I get time to practice and learn.

Forgot to mention the NXT 2.0 was applied with the DA on the #9207 Black Finishing pad. Also used moderate to heavy pressure with the UC and yellow pad.

Thanks for the info. Of course we want to know the details about details. It's all about the details in detailing. We're all trying to detail better and details are very important when talking about detailing. AAAAAAA funny.

Don't really have any write up. That's about as good as it gets. lol ok ok here goes, those are the fluorescent lights, extension cords and ceiling in the hood reflection as well as the work bench and detailing shelving on the other pic. There is that better? Oh and the seams of the drywall are shown. You can even see my clock on the wall. How about that. Once I get it outside in the sun, I'll take some more reflection pics, and when I finish the rest of the car, maybe next weekend.

I'd say do a test spot of the UP after you apply UC. If you can see a noticable difference, then go ahead and UP the whole car. If not, don't bother. My feeling is you won't see a difference on the white, but I could be wrong!

Thanks. If I can get that good of a reflection on a white car as well as the ones I have in here of my silver car then I must be doing something right. I promise to get the full car shots by the end if this weekend.

Thank you. A couple more days and I'll hit the doors and rear end with the polisher and try to get some before after shots of the swirls on at least the doors and then get an overall full shot of the car.

Great job stang2000, I'm "jealousy", because I want make this with my black GM Zafira 2008.

But I have questions, please: If you go direct to attempt 3, ok for this swirls, or the previous attempt contribute for the final results?

I have, in the moment, only Scratch X 2.0, and I see controversy about the results in swirls. But if is the only I have... The Ultimate Compound, my initial choice, is hard to see in Brazil.

The UC was what worked for the swirls. The first 2 didn't have enough cutting power to do the job. I have not used Scratch X 2.0 yet, so I don't know how well it would have done. Maybe someone else will be able to fill in that information.

Adonyahu - it really depends on your paint type and the severity of your swirls.

If ScratchX 2.0 is all you have, by all means do a test spot with that. There's a good chance it probably will do the job!
