  • How to clean gloss vinyl

    Hi All
I've got a car wrapped in gloss vinyl. And i'm wondering whats the best way to clean it. Below is the vinyl used on the car.

I know there's a thread here on matte vinyl. I've tried those methods (eg meg Ultimate Quick Detailer) but it doesn't remove whats on the white gloss vinyl. There are some dirty dots on the car that i can feel and see that don't seem to come off with a wash. It feels like it needs something abrasive to remove it (like you would on a painted car) but i don't want to scratch the vinyl. I've used some citrus cleaner and that removes the stain left by bird/bat poo but doesn't solve my other problem.

Can I use a wax? or a Clay bar? I've got some tech wax 2.0 at home, Can i use that?

    Cheers Guys

    Try claying it first.

Failing that, you could use a cleaner wax such as A12 Cleaner Wax, or ColorX.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Maybe some m39, the heavy duty vinyl cleaner, not sure if it will be over kill or not though

I have vinyl stripes on my car. I suggest clay, glaze then wax.

          Thanks All

Ok i'll give it a clay tomorrow. Will Tech Wax 2.0 ruin the finish? I've got a 2-3 bottles of the stuff left over.

It's vinyl. Use a dressing in it. I wouldn't clay it.

You can get them here in Australia. The ColorX in particular is readily available over the counter at place like Supercheap Auto etc. NXT Tech Wax 2.0 will be fine.

It's gloss vinyl, so you don't want to dress it. It will just run and make a mess the next time it rains. Plus, a dressing won't remove the spots off it.

Re: How to clean gloss vinyl

I started cleaning the water spots off my gloss Vinyl stripes with Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer. That left a dull tint. Then I tried Ultimate Polish to remove the tint and it got worse. Then I tried Quick Detailer. I still have the dull tint. I think now I just have a bunch of build up of different products. How do I clean all these products off? I've been using clean microfiber cloths each time. At least the water spots are gone.
