  • Belt for detailing

    Hey,

I wonder if somebody already invented that. I would like a belt where I can put stuff while working in the car, such as microfiber and a bottle of whatever I'm using. Then you think, it already exist, the apron. Well, I don't like the apron because the pockets are in front, exactly where it might touch the car. I would like something to put the stuff on the sides or back, not in front.

You could probably find some type of tool belt that would work. Honestly, I usually just stuff things in my pockets. I don't like aprons either.

Its not always I have a shorts with pockets. Also I looked for tool belts, they all have very small pockets to fill drilling tools and wrenches. Not appropriate for us.

Well, here's a crazy thought: as a former bicycle racer the first thought that came to my mind is a cycling jersey. They have 3 pockets on the back for carrying food, spare inner tubes, or whatever else you might need. The pockets are sufficiently wide and deep to easily hold a bottle of product (they easily carry a large cycling water bottle) and if you get a really nice one the fabric does a great job of wicking away moisture.

Actually, I don't know why I never thought of this before as it's a great solution for someone who doesn't like wearing an apron while detailing. Then again, I don't have any issues wearing an apron while detailing, so that's probably why this never occurred to me before!

no, no, no! You need to keep everything off of your "belt". You WILL damage cars by wearing a belt of any kind.
              NO WATCHES
              NO BELTS
              NO HOLSTERS
              NO BRACELETS

Do what we all do and hang the bottles off you back pocket or put them on the ground.

What's so hard about putting the bottle in the ground? For Microfiber towels when buffing I just sit them on the clean car, no big deal there.

Then again, I hate "stuff and clutter" and have enough "things" with the detailing stuff that I actually do need.

I second Mario on the belts and watches comments. The less stuff you have on you, the better. "Stuff" just increases the chances that something will scratch the paint.

                  Re: Belt for detailing

First of all my exact request was to put things in the back not in front. You didn't read the thread "Please Wash Me Detailing".

@jarred767: Hm, its not that simple. Sometimes when I'm claying I would have to stand up to put microfiber on the car. Usually the microfiber is on my leg or shoulders which doesn't allow me to move freely. Also some types of work you need two microfibers. I can also be cleaning the car and since the microfiber is full of products, example Glass Cleaner, I dont want to put it on top of the paint and of course not in the ground. Another example is when you are doing some kind of work in the roof, reach the ground just to put a bottle is a lot of work.

If you detail enough you would have in your mind a lot more examples. Microfiber never go to the floor. Its either using or on your shoulder (if you are standing). Bottles never go on the car and ground is not always that accessible. I want to concentrate in the car not where I will put things or taking care for the microfiber to not fall on the ground.

The belt was an idea. Nobody here suggested to use a leather belt with metal pieces. Read before posting.
