"Urgent" Can coreless impact driver/ drill with hammer (bpm) be used with DA power?

Hi all,

i am leo from Hong Kong...i just bought a coreless impact driver and ordered DA power system online and awaiting it to be delivered....
but seems i get a wrong drill/ driver....coz its a "impact" driver ...will it hurt the paint or car body !?
or can any drill with hammering ( blows per min) be used ??

I'm guessing here, but perhaps when you attach the accessory drill chuck the impact action stops. Did it come with a manual that might explain it's operation with the chuck installed. I tried the web page, but was unable to access the manual.

What is the model number of your Dewalt?

They recommend a corded drill. Cordless drills do not have the power to do any paint correction. But are suitable for wax application. At the very least tho it should b an 18volt also u prob would want a drill/driver.

Kitming, you may wish to read this article.

My hammer drill took a special shank chuck accessory that turned off (disabled) the hammer. According to this article your impact drill may impact at any moment. Not good for car detailing. The battery versus corded issue you may have overcome, but not random impacting.

My experience with testing a new 18V cordless was that it didn't have the kick to even use wax on a finishing pad..

We have only come across a few cordless drills that are suitable for use with the DA Power System, all of them were at least 18v tools and even then they are only good for wax application and not defect removal. You really do need a decent corded drill if you plan on doing any paint correction with the DAPS.

I've got a Snap-On CDR6855 cordless drill with an 18V Lithium battery and use with the Meguiars heavy duty head light restoration kit as well as the DynoCone wheel polishing tool. And will be getting the DA power system to use also but have no problems. I also have to 2 ni-cad 14.4V batteries that I will also use sometimes when my 18V is being charged and really have no issues with them either.

^^^ it doesn't matter which cordless drill you get as long as it's not an impact drill.

The DAPS will work with any cordless drill but an impact drill is very noisy.

A corded drill works the best due to the fact that the power never runs out.

And corded drills are cheaper then a cordless.

I've been using a dewalt 20 volt max 1/2 inch drill with this and so far the speed and power of the drill have been more than adequate at defect removal with the burgundy pad and ultimate compound. The only down side is the size of the pad which makes for a long job on a complete vehicle. But seeing as how I generally use it just once by year per vehicle it'll do.
