I think the pads that come in that bundle are a 6" pad which is what the Soft Buff are. Might I suggest that you check out autogeek.net for your buffer package? It is identical to the one that is on e bay for the same price and quite often they offer free shipping on purchases on a qualifying dollar amount which that would definitely cover.

That thing is a sander. I don't know of any detailer that uses that.
just get a Rupes and be done with it.

I'm actually thinking if I should even buy a DA being I get the same results from my makita? I turn it down to about 600rpm and apply my polishes and so forth..or I still need a da? What's the real big separated from the rotary and DA? isn't there one ine the middle Rotary/Da?

You can REALLY do on irreparable damage with a rotary if you dont understand the basics about edges of rolling off and on and how to mimic contours. it may seem simple but all it takes is a second of auto pilot [without a lot of hours under your belt] to burn through to primer or even metal

Very true sir..I was reading the proper technique is 1 second per inch? This true? Seems like really slow if you ask me..

                Re: Festool 150 Rotex

Sorry that I'm late to the thread, it took a few days for my account to be approved on the forum. I work for Festool USA and thought I'd comment but it seems you may have changed your mind.

The Rotex 150 can be used for polishing, however it's probably overkill if that's all you'll be using it for. We have a polisher, the SHINEX RAP 150, which would probably be a better option and is a more affordable machine. The Rotex 150 can be used for sanding tasks in addition to polishing, making it more versatile for body repair in addition to polishing. The SHINEX and Rotex both have 6" pads and share the same pads, sponges, sheepskin, etc.

All of our tools come with a 30-day no-risk money back guarantee, less shipping if applicable. So, if you're on the fence, give it a try. Worst case, you use an amazing tool for free for a month.

If you have questions, feel free to PM or email me.

                Thanks,

Thanks for posting, Shane, and welcome to MOL.

There is absolutely no doubt that Festool makes excellent tools of an extremely high quality. But does that mean this is the right tool for what you're wanting to accomplish, Skywitit23? That's the big question.
