  • What do I use to fix bird poop etching? Ultimate Compound?

My wife brought her car home with this. Barely 3 hours on the paint has left me with about 10 spots where the poop etched into the paint. I'd like to fix this myself (by hand) if possible but don't know exactly what to use. Any suggestions would be appreciated.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

So doing some searching on this Forum, it looks like M105 Ultra Cut Compound is what I want but would that be it or is there another step after the M105?

Remember to use the Least aggresssive product to get the job done. And even though your doing your application by hand, you can still remove paint so same principle here. After wash which I'm sure that was the first thing you did, start out with some scratchX and a foam applicator if possible. Apply a quarter amount of product or more on applicator and spread it on the area your working on. Apply about 10lbs. to 15lbs. (depending on surface panel flexing or bending) and work in straight back and forth motion several passes and you'll see your throw (scratchX) up at the top of area where your stopping and it's just laying up there doing nothing,(remember that's the SMAT product laying there, that's what helps remove the paint) get it and bring it back down to the surface area your working on with your applicator and start working it back and forth again for several more passes, and repeat going up and getting your product and working it back and forth again several more passes. Then remove product with a micro fiber folded in forths and remove product and check your work, if bird etching's still there apply a 2nd application.

If there still there with the second application of swirlX then move up to the Ultimate Compound and apply in the same manner, and depending on the hardness of your paint if the Ultimate Compound doesn't work then move up to the M105 and repeat your process. But again I prefer the foam applicator over the micro fiber or terry cloth applicator because of the foam is more aggressive then micro fiber and along with the pressure of your hand does a better job.

Hope I've help and show outcome if you can.

I would go with UC. It may not be possible to remove these deep etched area's by hand. As stated it depends on the whether the clear is soft or hard. UC or M105 may not be able to remove the etches out by hand. I would use either one with a foam applicator and follow the directions on the bottle. You may need to go with a machine. You could try the DA power system and use a drill if you don't want to invest in a DA.

I'm sure you already washed it but I would clay the area's you are having issues with to remove any contaminants. Then follow up with UC and either polish and wax or just a cleaner wax (ie white wax, colorx, cleaner wax) to protect the area.

to completely remove etching you'll have to remove a lot of paint. either by hand, sand paper or a machine.
You can do a lot with a terry towel and UC or 105. But after using a compound you'll have to remove those marks to with polishing with UP or 205, then wax.

I wet sand, buff and polish these out.
            Good Luck!

Wash, clay, then try least aggressive first using a polish like M205 or Ultimate Polish. If that step didn't work then go with M105 or Ultimate Compound. Be sure to re-seal or wax.

I have removed bird drop stains with Ultimate Polish and a yellow polishing pad on my G110V2. If it truly is etching, you may need to step up to UC, when doing it by hand. Although, nothing wrong with trying UP or Swirl X first. I would use an MF pad as it will be a little more aggressive than a foam pad.

Sorry to be joking at a time like this but if "one" bird did that I bet he's darn proud. It looks like she parked the car where there is a "flight path" for birds and they don't like that color of a car. My wife leaves it up to me to detail our three vehicles and travel trailer. However if she brought her car home like that, there is no doubt in my mind that I would very quickly enrol her into Detailing 101. Good luck at getting it all off.

I'd wash, clay (I'd take my time claying maybe some of the crud can be removed from the surface), then try out ScratchX 2.0, with ScratchX 2.0, I'd again take my time allow the SMAT's to do its job. Go at it at least 2 passes. If it doesn't solve it, move up Ultimate Compound. When it's fixed, seal it with your choice of wax and try parking indoors.. Good Luck!
