  • Nanoskin application question

I used Nanoskin sponges for the first time on my 12 year old Jeep Liberty and the results were less than what I had expected or hoped for. Surface contamination remained after several passes with the Autoscrub fine grade (blue) prep sponge, and the textured surface of the sponge did not seem to "grab" at the bonded contaminants. I finished the job with traditional clay instead, but I'm left wondering if perhaps my results were because I used Last Touch (mixed 1:1 with distilled water) instead of the Nanoshock lubricant. Is the nanoshock autoscrub system proprietrary, requiring their formulated lubricant?

    Re: Nanoskin application question

I've used them before with no issues. I used them with D155. You can use nanoskin with any clay lube. The surface probably had more contaminants than what the fine grade sponge could get out. It sounds like you needed the red nanoskin sponge.

Nanoskin fine grade pads work great for cars that have very little contamination. I would not use it on a car that hasn't been clayed within three months. You need to grab yourself some medium grade, just be careful then cause you may end up marring the paint.
