    You can use 4" pads, but the pad might fly off bc all the surface area that's not secured by the backing plate. If you're careful it'll be fine

      I don't mean using the 4inch on a 5 inch BP. I meant the whole deal with the BP and the Foam pads being the same size.

        I use 5" pads exclusively. The few spots that are odd angles or too small for the DA pad I can easily apply or work by hand. No problem.
