  • Ultimate Wax or NXT2.0 ?

Using the new MT300 to apply (once it gets here) what exactly are the differences between the two ? Which would be better for my applications ? I don't mind if i need both, one for one particular car, and one for another. Or even a different recommendation.

I live in SW Florida, so typically its sunny, and life would be easier if it can be applied to a car under sunlight. Not the end of the world, cos i can do it in the garage. But its always nicer to work outside. I really want a wax that can go over the trim without staining. Otherwise it's too finicky.

Cars, include a new 2015 Candy White VW Gti, a 2013 VW Tiguan Metallic Maroon. A 2008 Chrysler Town & Country, metallic maroon. Paintwork condition on the gti is A+, On the Tiguan its A & on the Town & Country, its a C.

Cars are garaged in the eve. But sit out in the open and exposed to sunlight during the daytime.

The Ultimate Wax is awesome but find it sort of smears on me on soft paints.
On the other hand the NXT works for me on any paint or color.

I use NXT for waxing my customers car, works great on any car.
My wife drives a black 2008 RAV4, single stage paint, I once tried the Ultimate Wax and found it harder to remove than I'd like.
I then tried the NXT, goes on easy and removes even easier.

Ultimate Wax will give you longer protection.
NXT is easier to work with IMO

You can't go wrong when using either of the two.
If I were you I'd first try the Ultimate Wax being it will last longer.
    Apply both very thin.

Re: Ultimate Wax or NXT2.0 ?

Long lasting really isn't an issue for me, as i love keeping busy, washing and waxing. So I'm not the sort of person who'll wax then leave it for months on end. More like 'days' on end. (maybe on the mini-van I'll leave it for extended periods) but on the VW's.... Any dirt and i'm all over it like a rash. I guess I'll give both a try and see which works out best for my application. I'll be honest, I gave Turtle Ice Liquid a go this weekend. After using Meguiars Gold Glass wash, Meguiars quick detailer and clay, and found it very impressive. Didn't do any water testing afterwards... Whaaaaaaaaat, after all that elbow grease !! hell no !!!! But it went on real nice, and buffed off real nice, and the bodywork feels sooooooooooooooo nice to the touch... Love seeing the neighbors eyes widen in genuine shock as they glide their hand over my cars. As long as NXT 2.0 or UX is as least as good, then i'm in !

Re: Ultimate Wax or NXT2.0 ?

Ultimate Wax and NXT 2.0, 2 great products. I currently have both in paste form, Ultimate is more durable (the most durable wax from meguiars apart from the PP365), but that's not to say NXT 2.0 is obsolete or loses out big time in every aspect.

As for me, I've had no streaking issues with Ultimate wax. In terms of shine, there are certain colors or paints where NXT 2.0 has the edge. NXT 2 leaves a slightly thicker or candy coated look, whereas the ultimate has sharper, more crisp reflections. On some paints, NXT 2.0 somehow adds more depth, on some paints Ultimate enhances lighter colors. In my experience, what Ultimate really has over the NXT 2 is durability, sharper, crisp reflections, water beading and ease of use and not so much the overall improvement in depth.

As for ease of application, Ultimate Wax is easier and has less dusting.

Based on this, Ultimate Liquid Wax would be the one to go with. Since you stated you like to wax monthly, I highly recommend you get some ultimate quik wax. Not only will it help you with your monthly waxing fix, it will boost the existing wax and maintain it.

Well said. I say get both and play around with both and see which you like better on any car. I have never experienced streaking issues with ULW. I always apply it thin and never had any issues.

Re: Ultimate Wax or NXT2.0 ?

You mentioned wanting a wax that won't stain trim. You can run Ultimate over the trim and totally forget you did so and it won't stain. NXT Tech Wax 2.0, if left to dry and is forgotten, will stain trim. Here's a handy little tip when applying a wax that will stain trim: pay attention to what you're doing when applying wax near trim, and have a towel at the ready (thrown over your shoulder is a good way to go). When you see that you just got some on the trim, wipe it off immediately and it won't stain.
