I had a nice long review typed up, but then I accidently hit some button and it all went away
Anyhow, long story short, I found that the Ultimate Polish has an insane amount of working time and an even more insane ability to spread across the panel you're working, allowing you to work a larger area with less polish. The 5" pads were great and considering I polished all 3 horizontal sections (hood, roof, trunk) with the hood being the only part clear coated, I only had to clean on the fly once. The roof and the trunk were both corrected after using 6 cross-hatch passes (6 times up and down / 6 times left and right) and wiping the polish off. I couldn't tell on the roof, the angle was too steep, but on the trunk, there were only a few RIDS (that had been seriously faded) and a bird etching that had also been diminished.
The hood was the toughie, I used the same method as on the other 2 panels, but when I wiped off the polish, there were still lots of RIDS and swirls ... but it WAS really shiny and glossy. So taking the easiest route, I just hit the hood a second time with the UP and there it was, a swirl and RIDS free panel.
Next came the wax, Ultimate Pate Wax. I used the 7.5" foam pad that I had cut down to apply the wax, using a butter knife to spread it on the pad in little slivers, while I didn't use much wax, it SEEMED like it took an awful lot of those slivers to get the pad primed. I applied it on a speed of '1' and the wax spread like hot butter. I waxed all three panels then removed it with a new microfiber cloth. I have to say it came off EASIER than when I applied it by hand and I think that I put it on thicker with the buffer.
Anyhow, I have to say that the 5" pads and UP is definitely a winning combination, I'm glad I let you guys talk me into the 5 inchers.
