I had a couple of scratches on my car that have been bothering me, so I decided to try the ScratchX stuff to see if I could get rid of them. The scratches weren't all that deep, so I thought I'd be good to go. The first couple of applications of ScratchX actually seemed to enhance the appearance of the scratches by bringing a brilliant shine to the area around them. I kept working the ScratchX through about 4 or 5 applications by hand on a microfiber clothe, and it really did diminish the appearance of the scratches. Something not only I noticed, but my in-experienced wife noticed as well, was that I was able to put holograms on the car with the ScratchX applied by hand. An application of another brand's black detailer seemed to erase the holograms. Is this normal? I broke out my new Meguiar's DA Power System and the Ultimate Compund kit for it and went over the area and it really seemed to smooth out the area, but left it a touch dull. I think I'll be getting up early on Monday and I'll two bucket wash her, dry her, and then hit her with the DA Power System with the Ultimate Polish, and finish with the orbital buffer with the Ultimate Wax. With the orbital buffer, is it better to use it to apply the way and hand wipe it off or apply the way by hand and use the buffer to remove it?

Re: Holograms and Detailer
The other QD sounds like it has fillers which will fill in those defects. If the paint is soft then you could be seeing some haze from the pad and UC. Or UC was overworked and dryed on the paint. Try going over the area again with UC and then UP to add that gloss. You really don't need scratchx since you already have UC.
