  • Spotless water hose attachment?

Hey guys, I am wondering if any of you know of any thing I can attach to my garden hose to help with water spots/minerals. My house uses well water, and I have a water softener, but the outside hoses are not softened.

I used to have a MrClean AutoDry for my garden hose and it seemed to work noticeably better than w/o it, but after months and months of not being able to find the filters for it (only seem to find them for $99, HA!) I threw it away.

I have seen a few LARGE filter systems used for washing cars but they are HUGE and like $400.

Is there anything like the Mrclean autodry out there still?

    Thanks everybody!

I'm on city water but use a Whirlpool 2-micron whole-house filter with brass adapters for the hose connections. Cost me about $30 to setup. It won't eliminate the issue, but it will reduce it greatly. Then, I use a leaf blower to dry the car after a wash or rinse, which is the only way to avoid spotting (or endless wiping) for me. Beyond that, I try not to wash and blow dry (in the heat of Summer, particularly) unless I really have to, and otherwise, can go weeks using waterless methods.

        Re: Spotless water hose attachment?

I have a filter similar to the $14.00

It is attached to the garage wall, and only used for washing cars. Hose in to one side and hose out to wash the cars.

Utilizing standard filter cartridges (9.75-inch x 2.5-inch) housed in a clear polyethylene filter cartridge.
To provide spot-free vehicle washing and to remove hard water minerals, unit can be fitted with a sodium cartridge, PW-SOF, which uses standard water softening sodium (salt), with a life span of approx. 90-gallons (dependant upon water chemical content)

The sodium resin cartridge can be regenerated indefinitely using readily available water softening sodium (salt). Place the used cartridge in a container with the water softening sodium / water solution and soak for 12-hours or more. The salt will displace the calcium replacing it with sodium. With two filter cartridges you can use one while the other is in the regenerating solution.

It does a darn good job, but that said, I rarely use it. With so little water left on the car due to a super wax job, and gentle flow of the hose, what is left can be blotted off with a towel. (a Kleenex almost)
