I'm seeking advice how to care for "painted aluminum" wheels on a Lincoln MKS, which have a clear coat finish. Should I apply a sealant after the initial cleaning? If so, what is recommended?

Re: Caring for Aluminum Wheels
If a moderately aggressive wheel cleaner is needed, Meguiar's Hot Rims Wheel & Tire Cleaner is recommended for factory clear coated wheels. With any wheel cleaner, be sure to apply to one wheel at a time from start to finish, follow the directions, and work on the wheels when they are cool to the touch and not hot from driving. If you are staying up on your maintenance and washing weekly, Meguiar's Hot Rims Aluminum Wheel Cleaner would suffice, and is less aggressive.

Any of Meguiar's waxes or sealants are OK to use on glossy clear coated wheels, but because most wheel cleaners will remove wax, we often recommend using our Ultimate Quik Wax, as it is a spray wax, so it is much quicker to apply after using a wheel cleaner, while still providing great protection and gloss.

Re: Caring for Aluminum Wheels
One other thing to note is that if you keep your wheels sealed, you only need soap and water after the initial cleaning with a wheel cleaner.
UQW works well as one can apply it after every wash. Simple and effective.

Re: Caring for Aluminum Wheels
Yes, that would be fine..Originally posted by BluelineI own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me. The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.
