  • G2000 Perfect Clarity Headlight Restoration

I tried this G2000 2-step restoration product last year. The product worked well and it was easy to use. At the time, this product was not available locally in Toronto so I had to buy the kit from US.

This week I passed by a local auto store and I found this product on the shelf. The product code is G2000C. Are G2000 and G2000C the same products?

    Hi Mis3,

Yes same exact product. The "C" represents Canada.

Re: G2000 Perfect Clarity Headlight Restoration

After doing much reading and comparing, I think I've settled on the perfect clarity headlight restoration kit - but I'm wondering if the results can be improved upon. Some have noted that this kit has improved clarity, but that headlights may still seem "blurry clear". I'm wondering if this can be avoided.

I've read that the finest grit to clean/polish the headlights before application of the UV sealant in this kit is 3000 - I assume this is to give the sealant more surface area to adhere for durability.

      Questions:

      1. With the included scotch brite pad and liquid compound, does anyone know the equivalent grit this would leave the headlights.

      2. Would one see any improvement (after using the supplied pad and compound) to continue sanding up to 2500 or 3000 grit before applying the UV spray?

      3. If so, would there be much difference in doing by hand vs a drill w/ attachment?

Good questions. I would like the answers as well. Like to add one question:
I used to wax the headlights everytime I waxed the car, should I keep this up even with G2000?

I did mine 6 months ago and I am thinking to apply again soon. While 6 months is considered long lasting as compared to other products, maybe we can further increase its durability by sanding more to finer grits.

As I noted in the other post, the longest step was to tape up the frontal area since my headlights are peanut shape (Mercedes).

One can sand headlights and use this kit. Finish with 3000 grit and then spray the coating. The coating will fill and bond to the sanding marks left behind and look clear. I've done this.

To answer the question about maintenance, one can wax or seal the headlights as maintenance.

Good to know. I am concerned that the wax would rub off some of the coating.
