  • Touchless Car Wash Question.

Hi, So I keep hearing that the soap the car washes use are too abrasive and dry out our paint and remove any existing wax. Is this true? The touch-less car wash down the street from my house just uses pressure washer, soap, and air to dry. They have the $7 option and the $9 option in which they supposedly use a wash n wax type soap. Are either of these good to use, and is it worth the extra $2 for the wax n wash? -- My main concern is stripping of the current wax and maintaining the shine on my paint.

    Re: Touchless Car Wash Question.

Hello, I think it's true, the touchless car washes need to use harsh chemicals to make up for the lack of scrubbing, and unless you have a coating, organic waxes and even sealants will be greatly compromised in a touchless place, the best thing if you want to keep you car looking it's best is to do it yourself, if that's not an option you should look at getting your car coated. As far as the 2 bucks extra for wax I don't know if it's worth it but if you must wash it there you might as well pay 2dls more I mean it's 2 buck no sense in overthinking this, just keep in mind that like almost everything in life you get what you pay for and 2dls is not a lot of money.

Unfortunately washing it at home increases the water bill dramatically. It's a terrible herbst car wash if anyone has any input from this place.

Rinseless washing is another alternative if you are concerned about the water bill increasing.

Are you planning a replacement? Or is this a done deal now?

Unfortunately no at this time! Our current options for rinseless/waterless are D115 Rinse Free X - Press Wash & Wax or G3626 Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere.

Thanks for the update Nick. It;s a shame this is going away just like the 3" microfiber disks.

I am hearing a rumor that D163 Tire & Trim Gel is also being discontinued. Any truth to that rumor?

wow, water must cost alot out west ou you must wash your car a lot to increase your bill so much. I wash both of my cars at home during the nice months almost every week, so that is 8 washes per month. Maybe 6 if I miss a week. I only use a touch less during the winter because they run $8 to $10 per wash. I get the cheapest wash that has the undercarriage wash then come back home and do a quick detail. So, I can in no way imagine going to a car wash and doing a touch less every week unless it was an unlimited wash for like $25 per month type thing. I don't see much of change in the bill during the winter. I did get some of the rinse less wash (ONR) and have been practicing with that so I can give that a shot this winter.

Thanks Nick. Perhaps it will come around a 3rd time as #38 came back as D163. It does sound like some house cleaning through the product line(s).

Damn, you're not making my bad week any better Nick.

Like that product a lot too. Great for bringing back really bad trim.

This is sad news indeed. Can you share the rationale for discontinuing this?

Lucky for me I still have 3/4 of a gallon left and should hold me for a few more years.
