  • Is Meguiar's Hot Rims an acidic cleaner?

    Hello,

I have chrome wheels on my car. They are generally in good condition. I have brake dust covers on my wheels so they don't get too dirty from brake dust. I wanted to use a very mild wheel cleaner so I was initially looking for the Gold Class All wheel cleaner or #36. I couldn't find both in the local stores around me. So I purchased a Meguiar's Hot Rims wheel cleaner.

My question is whether the Hot Rims is an acidic cleaner or is it water based? Since my wheels are in a decent shape, I just want to use a mild cleaner on it. Needless to say, I only trust Meguiar's products and want to stick with them.

    Thanks,

The Hot Rims does fall on the acidic side for its cleaning ability, but is safe for Chrome wheels. If you want to avoid acid based products the M36 Wheel cleaner is 100% safe, but may require some agitation. If you can not find it you can order it direct from our website.

I use Meguiar's Hot Rim on my clear coat rim's and it work's good. But if the rim's have alot of brake dust on them you will have to use alittle elbow grease on them.

yes. if the brake dust is caked on or there is road film on the rim agitation will be required with any product!!! Frequent car and wheel care is easy car and wheel care...
