  • Red Stain in Carpet

Ok, I have not been able to find anything that will remove a red stain in the wife's Tahoe. It is a stain from some sort of red drink my 2 year old spilled. The carpet is tan. Someone told me to dry a glass cleaner with ammonia. Has anyone ever heard of this or no any reason not to try it? I know I should, as always, test in a small hidden spot first.

    Thanks

i think that thread will teach you the most about carpet cleaning... i may be wrong... but eh good luck. and the ammonia sounds like it might stain your carpet and leave an unpleasant smell

Well I am kind of worried about using a glass cleaner with ammonia. The guy who told me to try this used to detail cars so there may be some truth to it. However I wanted to run it by some other people before I even think about trying it.

      Thanks

I am in training with a company that is new to the market place in the Northwest ALG, Alwayslookinggood our interior guy showed me the trick last week he uses. you get a white 100% terry towel dampen it good with tap water, and plug a regular everyday iron like you use on your shirt and place the towel down over the stain then the iron on the towel for about 5-10 minutes moving it around on the towel every few minutes.
It lifted a bad red stain in an 2002 Honda accord I was shocked the towel lifted the whole thing out with almost no effort.

I don't know about the amonia glass cleaner thing, that sounds a little different. Red stains are some of the hardest to get out i've found. I clean all carpets in all cars that I do with APC+ diluted about 7:1, but when this doesn't work and for most stains that I come across I use this stuff called Blue Magic Spot and Stain Lifter. I get it at Wal-Mart for about $3.50 a can and I haven't come across a stain that it hasn't taken out and I've come across a few pretty bad stains. Just my .02, hopefully you're able to remove the stains one way or another.
