  • Car extractor. Is this the ultimate interior detailing tool?

Currently I am using APC, brush and wet/dry vac for carpet, floor mats, and fabrics but I am not satisfied with the result.

Can carpet extractor like desiderior or duramaid with steamer and vacuum will do the job better?

I have both the Durmaid extractor and the Desiderio steamer. If your looking for a carpet extractor between the 2 go with the Durmaid. The Desiderio is not a true carpet extractor. The Durmaid is a great entry level extrator for the price.

Oh, why is that so? why did you say desiderio is not a true carpet extractor? The price is twice as much and it has more gadgets/attachments tools as well and I was expecting that desiderio will give a better result. Can I use durrmaid on vynl as on seats cover and farbric on door panel?

The Desiderio has a vacuum that will extract but it's not very powerful. It's great for cleaning door panels, vinyl, leather seats, dashes and plastic but you will use the steam for all of those and then wipe down with a towel. If I have some time today I will clean a floor mat with the Desiderio and the Durmaid and post some pix of the results.

          That would be great!
          Thanks for the insight.

I have an old Oreck brand carpet "spot" cleaner with upholstery attachment and it works great on my seats, drying time is long as it's not the most powerful machine but works okay. I've sucked some old hot chocolate out of the back seat of my cars over the years with 5 kids on board. I use Tide liquid detergent in the soap dispenser as the soap was really expensive and it works great, figure cloth seats are well, cloth and we wash cloth items in our washer with detergent. There are better machines out there, I read some like the little green machine, made by Bissell (sp?) I believe.

I just bought a new one last year, Galaxy is the brand. It is a nice unit. May be worth checking them out too, you can never compare too much.

I might be out on a limb here but using an extractor to clean Vinyl stikes me as a no no. Your are adding water (hopefully not hot) to a synthetic fabric that has been dyed. I am concerned that you may have some issues with that at some point. I have been through three extractors. Cleaning vinyl is best done in my opinion by a mild solution and a little elbow grease .
