  • Slight issue with all purpose cleaner

    O.K i cleaned my seat's last week only to find that they have dryed with what looks like a white staining from the foam used to clean them(if you follow me??) .
    My procedure was a good brush first, then apply the apc with a foaming spray head, agitate with a brush, then absorb excess with terry towel......I also noticed that when the apc dried on plastics it left a white stain similair to as if a milk carton had exploded ......
    Now is it that i have mixed the product incorrectly it was 1:4???? or am i missing something??????

    Just a guess here, but 1:4 might be a bit strong. I had a post earlier about spilling some apc concentrate on an old painted table and it removed the paint. Perhaps something closer to the 1:10 mark might be better.

      Here's the link to all the products in Meguiar's Professional Detailer line which includes the dilution levels and recommended uses for each products.

      Meguiar's New Detailer Line

      Here is the information for All Purpose Cleaner

      All Purpose Cleaner

      Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner is ideal for reconditioning interior surfaces. The superior foaming action gently lifts the dirt away while its unique blend of fabric softeners and optical brighteners enhance the look and feel of carpet, upholstery, vinyl and even leather.

      D-10101 1 gallon
      D-10105 5 gallon
      D-10155 55 gallon

      Medium Duty Degreasing 10:1
      Heavy Duty Degreasing 4:1

      Recommended replacement for All Purpose Cleaner +.

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      4:1 is probably too strong for the fabric you're working on, you might want to dilute to the 10:1 level. It's a good Idea to always test in an inconspicuous area first before using over the entire surface.
        The guidelines on the container state 1:4 or 1:10, so i guess i shall have a play around with the 1:10 and see what happens.
          I've had a similar problem with Extra spray cleaner. One thing I noticed when I switched to the APC with the foaming nozzle is the spray does not fan out very well. It sprays in too small of an area. When the apc is sprayed on an area and sits it leaves behind the white marks especailly on plastic.
          The procedure that has worked for me, is to spray the APC (mixed 10:1 with foam sprayer) on a damp (not dripping or rung dry) terry towel rather than directly to the surface. I then spread the product evenly over the surface to be cleaned. After cleaning with apc I rinse with another damp terry towel. This works great for interior trim and plastic. For carpets I do the same thing and add a gentle scrub with the terry towel over any stains as a pretreatment before using my scrub brush and extractor.
          Good luck.
            Is there any way to remove the white residue? I used this product at 10 to 1 thinking I was being safe and it still stained my seat's with the white residue. Mike see if you can find out on a possible solution for removing the white residue from my Vinyl/Leather seat's.
              I use Megs APC 1:15 for the entire interior.
                We've been using APC to do the interiors of numerous vans at a dilution ratio of 10:1. works great for all surfaces. and so far, no problems at all. this product is the bomb! and one gallon lasts for a long time too!
                cars with interiors that weren't cleaned for 5-6 years come out really really good after being sprayed with APC.
                We only use the 5:1 ratio when it comes to wheels and engines...
                  I have noticed when I use APC that if I go back over the vinyl with a damp MF that the dressing seems to go down alot smoother and evenly. Also I think after a few trials and error that 1:10 is a better ratio as mentioned above.
                    I used to apply dressing and not really clean the surface. I would rely on the cleaners of the dressing. After changing my method the dressing is easier to apply and seems to last a little longer too. The dressing I use is the hyper dressing 3:1.
