Using Meguiar's G2970 Two Step Headlight Restoration Kit

When using any of our headlight restoration products be sure to read & follow the directions on the product packaging, and use this article for a reference.
Meguiar's G2970 Two Step Headlight Restoration Kit consists of a two step "clean & coat" process, requires no buffing with a drill, with results which provide 1 year of protection (*Lab tested per ASTM G154-12a).

The kit consists of 2 cleaning pads, a bottle of cleaning solution, and a can of our Keep Clear Headlight Coating.

The pictures below are from a 2006 Honda Ridgeline we completed at one of our Thursday Night Open Garages here in Irvine, California.

We first parked the vehicle in our garage to allow the surfaces we were working on to cool down. Once cool, we cleaned off the headlight lenses using glass cleaner to remove any loose dirt or dust, ensuring we have a clean working surface.

Here are some BEFORE pictures of the headlight lens condition. We would consider these moderately oxidized.

This kit utilizes a aerosol coating as the second step. Since the product is an aerosol application, it is recommended to protect the surrounding surfaces of the headlight, to prevent any over-spray. If any over-spray were to get on a surrounding surface, it is recommended to wipe off immediately, since it can become stubborn to remove if left to dry.

Although not an automotive specific product, 3M's ScotchBlue Pre-taped painters plastic works quite well for protecting surrounding surfaces. (Please excuse our messy taping off job, we were in a bit of a hurry : )

First is to dispense a quarter sized amount of cleaning solution onto the included cleaning pad. Below Santiago, a Meguiar's Garage TNOG regular, uses a back and forth motion to clean the headlight surface. The headlight surface is properly cleaned when it has a uniform, frosted appearance across the entire headlight. You can always wipe off with a towel as you clean with the cleaning solution & cleaning pad to check your work.

After wiping the headlight surface dry, the next and final step is to spray two coats of the included Keep Clear Headlight Coating. Upon contact Keep Clear Headlight Coating turns the headlight back to clear clarity, with no buffing required & provides durable protection. It is really quite fun to use.

Ensure the headlight is completely clean and dry before applying the coating. It is recommended to use 2 medium wet coats, overlapping your pass by 50%. The first coat will dry in 3 - 5 minutes. Repeat for a second coat and you are finished.

Here are a couple AFTER pictures of the headlights. Clouded appearance removed, clear clarity, sealed & protected.

The below video features this kit, just note, the kit has different packaging. Same Components, just new packaging for 2017.

This below video also shows a quick demonstration of the product also:
