  • First time issue with headlight coating of another brand

I've used the 3M Headlight coating on over a dozen headlights over the years with excellent results and without any problems until yesterday. I prep them with 500 paper dry in a drill, followed by 1,000 and 3,000 Trizact discs wet. Then wipe on the coating. After it dried there were cloudy streaks all over the the headlight as if it didn't flow smooth after application. Could this be caused by the low temperature when I put it on? It was 42

Forum cutting off my posts after I had the small "0" degree symbol after 42. Weird.

It was 42F while in the past it was over 60 when I used it. How to remove and start over? M105 compound? Does the Meguiar's spray coating have a minimum temperature for application? Does it need a polishing step before applying or can it be put on after the 3,000 disc?

I am not familiar with the 3M headlight coating, that said, would recommend a liberal amount of isopropyl rubbing alcohol, especially if it is still fresh, and from there, I would probably just sand them with 3000 grit again & start over.

And yes temperature can absolutely make a difference. Recommended minimum for Meguiar's is 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
