  • remove shoe polish from seat upholstery

    Hi Guys,

I have a seat I am trying to clean for a friend that was removed from a wrecked 2009 State Patrol car. For some reason this department put white dots all over the whole car before it went to the junkyard. It appears to be Shoe polish but not entirely positive. This seat is almost new other than these stupid dots. Does anyone have any ideas what I could order or use to clean it up. I have extracted it already but it didn't even touch It. I will add a picture of the seat as soon as I figure out how.

Thanks for the tips and any suggestions.

    Tom

Hmmmm..... that's a bit odd looking. You say it appears to be shoe polish, but is there some way you can confirm this? From the pattern it appears to be an intentional marking of the surface.

Quik Out is a great product, as is APC, but sometimes steam is needed for really nasty stuff. You said you already extracted, but what cleaner was used in that process?

        Hi Michael,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately there is no way to tell what it is for sure. The yard we bought it from believed it was shoe polish. I can tell you that it will wipe off of hard surfaces with very little effort, but its just not coming out of this seat.

I do believe you are correct in that this seat was purposely marked like this for an unknown reason, all I can believe is that it was due to some sort of accident investigation since it was out of a wrecked police vehicle.

The cleaner I used was Poorboys world APC in the extractor when that didn't work, we also tried two other types of carpet cleaner. One was a oxy clean type of carpet cleaner for pet stains and a woolite carpet cleaner. It seems to lighten up slightly when cleaned but then comes back full strength when the area drys.

I am kind of lost on this one.

        Thanks again for the help.
